How to maximize your vacation days
The trick to maximizing time off is to spend PTO on the working days that sit between a public holiday and the weekend. A holiday on a Tuesday, for example, only needs one PTO day (Monday) to create a four-day break.

- Enter your PTO budget — the planner spends it on the highest-leverage breaks first.
- Choose a strategy to favour more trips, longer breaks, or pure efficiency.

Frequently asked questions
- How does the PTO long weekend optimizer work?
- It scans the official public holiday calendar for your country and year, then looks for holidays that sit next to a weekend or can be bridged with one or two PTO days. Each opportunity is ranked by how many total days off you get per PTO day spent.
- What does the efficiency ratio mean?
- Efficiency shows how much leverage each PTO day gives you. For example, a Thursday holiday plus a Friday off creates a four-day weekend, so one PTO day equals four days off — an efficiency of 1:4.
- Does it invent or guess holidays?
- No. The optimizer only uses the public holiday data we already publish for each country. Substitute and observed days are respected, and no extra holidays are added.
- Is my PTO data saved anywhere?
- No. Everything runs in your browser. Your PTO planning stays on your device and is never uploaded to our servers.
