How the typing test works
The test shows a stream of the most common English words. As soon as you type your first character, a countdown begins. Every character you type is compared against the target text in real time: correct characters turn green, mistakes turn red. When the timer reaches zero, your words-per-minute and accuracy are locked in.
WPM is calculated the same way every standardized typing test does it — correct characters divided by five, divided by minutes elapsed. Counting in five-character “words” rather than literal words keeps your score consistent whether the passage is full of short words like “the” or longer ones like “sentence.”
