What is an ICS file?

ICS (iCalendar) is the universal standard format for calendar events, defined in RFC 5545. Almost every calendar application can import .ics files. Each ICS file from DateToolsHub contains all public holidays for a specific country and year as all-day events.

How to import ICS files

Google Calendar

  1. Open Google Calendar on your computer
  2. Click the gear icon (Settings) in the top right
  3. Go to Import & Export in the left sidebar
  4. Click Select file from your computer and choose the .ics file
  5. Choose which calendar to add events to, then click Import

Apple Calendar (macOS)

  1. Download the .ics file
  2. Double-click the file — it opens in Calendar automatically
  3. Or: File → Import → Select the .ics file → Choose calendar

Microsoft Outlook

  1. Open Outlook
  2. Go to File → Open & Export → Import/Export
  3. Select Import an iCalendar (.ics) file
  4. Browse to the downloaded .ics file and click Open

How to download ICS files

  1. Visit any holiday page (e.g. US holidays 2026)
  2. Click the Download ICS button on the page
  3. The .ics file downloads to your computer
  4. Import it into your calendar app using the steps above

What the ICS file contains

Each ICS file is a valid iCalendar document with VERSION:2.0 and all-day VEVENT entries. Events include a unique UID, DTSTAMP, DTSTART, DTEND, SUMMARY (holiday name), and DESCRIPTION (holiday type and source).

Will ICS holidays update automatically?
No. An ICS import is a one-time snapshot. If official holiday dates change, download an updated file and re-import.
Can I import multiple country ICS files?
Yes. Import each ICS file separately. You can create separate calendars for each country in Google Calendar or Apple Calendar for easy toggling.
