When you create a static QR code, the data is encoded directly into the image. There is no redirect server, no tracking analytics, and no account dependency. The QR code works forever. This is different from dynamic QR codes, which encode a short tracking URL that forwards the scanner to the real destination. Dynamic QR codes let you change the destination later, but they break if the tracking service shuts down or you stop paying for the subscription.
If your QR code contains a URL, the QR code itself does not expire, but the destination web page must remain available online. For contact cards, WiFi credentials and plain text, the QR code is completely self-contained and will always work.
