Worked example

From January 1, 2026 to March 31, 2026 is 89 days total, or 90 days inclusive (counting both endpoints). That is 12 weeks and 5 days, of which 63 are weekdays. If you are billing a client for the calendar span, use 89; if you are counting days of an event that includes both the first and last day, use 90.

Frequently asked questions

How are days between two dates counted?

The calculator counts every calendar day from the day after the start date up to the end date. The inclusive count also includes both the start and end date themselves. Weeks are reported as whole weeks plus remaining days.

What is the difference between total days and inclusive days?

Total days counts the span between two dates (end minus start). Inclusive days adds one to include both the start and end date in the count. Use inclusive when you want to count both endpoints, for example when counting days of a trip including arrival and departure.

Does the calculator handle leap years?

Yes. February 29 is included whenever it falls within your date range. The day count reflects the actual calendar days, including the extra leap day in leap years.

Does the result include the start date or end date?

The total days count excludes the start date (it counts from the day after). The inclusive count includes both the start and end dates. Pick the number that matches how you want to count.
