Business days

Count business days between dates

Calculate workdays between two dates, excluding Saturday and Sunday weekends.

The business days calculator counts the number of working days (Monday through Friday) between any two dates you enter. Use it to estimate delivery windows, payroll periods, project deadlines, SLA response times and shipping lead times. Saturdays and Sundays are always excluded; for country-specific public holidays, use the business days with holidays calculator.

How to use this calculator

  1. Enter your start date in the first field.
  2. Enter your end date in the second field.
  3. The result shows the total number of business days (weekdays) in the range, plus the calendar span in days.
  4. For ranges that should also skip public holidays, switch to the business days with holidays tool.

Worked example

Say you start a project on January 1, 2026 and need to finish by January 31, 2026. The full calendar span is 31 days, but only 21 of those are weekdays (the rest are Saturdays and Sundays). So the project has 21 business days available — that is the number you should use when scheduling work or billing a client.

Frequently asked questions

What is a business day?
A business day is any day from Monday through Friday. Saturdays and Sundays are not business days. Public holidays are not automatically excluded by this calculator — for that, use the business days with holidays calculator.
How are business days counted?
Enter a start date and an end date. The calculator counts every weekday (Monday–Friday) in the range, including both the start and end date when they are weekdays. The total excludes Saturdays and Sundays.
Does the calculator exclude public holidays?
This basic calculator counts weekdays only. To exclude country-specific public holidays as well, use the business days with holidays calculator, which supports 18+ country calendars.
Can I count business days from today?
Yes. Enter today's date as the start and your target date as the end. The calculator will tell you how many working days remain, which is useful for project deadlines, shipping estimates and SLA tracking.
Does the count include the start and end date?
Yes. Both the start and end date are counted when they fall on a weekday. If you need to exclude one of them, adjust your range by one day.
