When to use a PDF watermark
Watermarks are commonly used to mark documents as confidential, draft, or for review before final distribution. They provide a visible but unobtrusive label that discourages unauthorized copying while keeping the original content readable. This tool lets you add a text watermark at any angle and transparency level, and it runs entirely in your browser for maximum privacy.
Frequently asked questions
- What kind of watermarks can I add?
- You can add any text watermark (e.g., CONFIDENTIAL, DRAFT, DO NOT COPY) with adjustable opacity, font size, and rotation. The watermark is applied to every page of the PDF.
- Can I add an image watermark?
- This tool currently supports text watermarks only. Image-based watermarks are not yet supported, but you can use a desktop PDF editor for that.
- Will the watermark cover the original text?
- By default, the watermark is set to low opacity (0.15) so it sits behind or over the content without making it unreadable. You can adjust the opacity slider to your preference.
